By Adeola Ogunrinde –

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday swore in Hon. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo as Chairman of the Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), urging him to remain committed to grassroots governance.

Speaking at the ceremony held at Lagos House, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu implored government officials to give the council chairman all necessary support.

Sanwo-Olu charged Okeowo, who is returning for a second term, to work closely with stakeholders and deliver results that will directly improve the lives of residents.

“We are encouraged by the fact that he performed very well in his first tenure, and we believe God has given him the grace to do more this second term. Ifelodun LCDA is a critical part of our government, with a huge population and diverse community engagement. We are expecting greater results from him,” the governor said.

Okeowo was elected during the Saturday, July 12 council polls but could not be sworn in with his colleagues on Sunday, July 27, due to ill health. The governor noted that he is now fit to continue steering the ship of governance in Ifelodun LCDA.

Also speaking, the Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Hon. Bolaji Kayode Robert, stressed the importance of civic engagement, democratic values, and responsible leadership in guiding communities through the electoral process.

In concluding remarks, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening local councils to bring government closer to the people.
