Governor Sanwo-Olu swears in new Onigbongbo LCDA Chairman, Barr. Olufunke Hassan
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially sworn in Barrister Olufunke Rekiya Hassan as the new Chairman of the Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA). The ceremony marked a significant moment for the community as Hassan assumes her role with a strong commitment to enhancing local governance and community well-being.
Profile of the New LCDA Chairman
Barr. Olufunke Rekiya Hassan, born and raised in Lagos, brings a wealth of experience in public service and a solid educational foundation in law. She earned her Bachelor of Law degree from the Nigerian Law School’s Lagos campus and holds a Master’s degree in Law from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Prior to her appointment, Hassan served as the Vice Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, a position she held since 2020. Her experience in local governance includes roles as Supervisor for the Department of Agriculture and Social Services and Supervisor for the Department of Education within the Onigbongbo LCDA. In addition, she has served as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Assistant Legal Advisor for the council area.
Leadership and Community Involvement
Beyond her governmental roles, Hassan has been actively involved in various leadership and community initiatives. She served as the South West Social Secretary for the National Young Women in Politics Forum (NYWPF) and holds an active position within Rotary as the Chairman of Youth Activities for the Rotary Royal Ikeja Ambassadors Club. Hassan is also an international member of Amnesty International, reflecting her commitment to social justice.
Hassan’s dedication to community welfare led her to found the Elpis Initiative, a non-profit organization that addresses poverty at the grassroots level through welfare programs, vocational training, and support initiatives.
