Governor Sanwo-Olu to commission roads in Agege, Igando, Ikotun

By Adeola Ogunrinde –

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is set to formally commission the reconstructed Abaranje Road in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area and Old Dopemu Road in Agege Local Government Area on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, who noted that the projects are additions to the 36 roads and five bridges already delivered by the administration this year.

According to Omotoso, the Sanwo-Olu administration remains committed to creating sustainable communities, improving connectivity, and providing effective bypasses to ease traffic congestion, despite prevailing economic challenges.

“The Old Dopemu Road is a strategic bypass that traverses Agege and Alimosho Local Government Areas, linking Akowonjo Road, Old Ipaja Road, and the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway,” Omotoso said.

He added that the Abaranje Road in Igando-Ikotun LCDA is another critical route that serves numerous communities in Igando, one of the largest settlements in the Alimosho axis.

“These projects have significantly improved road connectivity, reduced travel time, eased traffic flow, eliminated perennial flooding, and enhanced transportation for residents along the route,” he explained.

Omotoso stressed that the improved infrastructure is expected to boost commercial activity and economic well-being for Lagosians by enabling smoother transportation.

He reaffirmed that the Sanwo-Olu administration remains focused on upgrading old roads and constructing new ones to fulfil its promise of sustainable development for Lagos residents.
