Governor Sanwo-Olu to inaugurate network of roads in Badagry

By Adeola Ogunrinde –
The Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration is set to inaugurate the Badagry Network of Roads on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in continuation of its drive to ensure infrastructural development reaches all parts of Lagos State.
The network comprises three major roads — Aradagun-Mosafejo-Ilado-Imeke Road, Samuel Ekundayo Road, and Hospital Road — cutting across Badagry Local Government and Olorunda Local Council Development Areas.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Alausa, Ikeja. He noted that Governor Sanwo-Olu has, in recent months, handed over 39 roads and five bridges to Lagos residents.
Omotoso said the state government views infrastructure as a strategic driver of economic growth and a catalyst for development. “Under the THEMES Plus Agenda, the Road Infrastructure initiative is designed to enhance trade and commerce, boost multi-modal transportation, and open up remote areas,” he explained.

The Aradagun-Mosafejo-Ilado-Imeke Road project complements the earlier virtually commissioned 6.65km double-lane single carriageway with a 300m bridge linking Imeke, Ajido, Iworo/Whispering Palms to Epeme Road, as well as bridges from Imeke to Ajido/Iworo/Epeme, providing an alternative route to the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.
Samuel Ekundayo/Toga Road links Joseph Dosu Road from the Samuel Ekundayo/Toga Intersection and connects to the Lagos–Badagry Expressway. It also ties into the Aradagun-Mosafejo project, serving as an alternative route from Badagry Roundabout to Limca/Ibereko.

Hospital Road (Phase 1) connects Idale, Akarakunmoh, Povita, Topo, and Ajido communities to the Lagos–Badagry Expressway via Joseph Dosu Road. The road begins at Agbalata Market Junction and extends to the Lagos State University (LASU) Foundation.
Located near the Badagry Marina, Hospital Road is home to key tourist and public facilities, including the Agiya Tree Monument, First Storey Building, Early Missionary Cemetery, Heritage Museum, Eko Theatre, Badagry VIP Chalets, and Badagry General Hospital.
