…hails him as God’s gift to Akwa Ibom

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has described renowned gospel evangelist, Rev. Uma Ukpai, as a divine gift to the state.

Speaking during a special service at the International Worship Centre, Uyo, to mark Rev. Ukpai’s 80th birthday, the Governor commended the evangelist’s lifelong dedication to spreading the gospel and transforming lives.

“At 80, Rev. Uma Ukpai has made an incredible and enduring impact by sowing seeds, winning souls, and expanding the Lord’s vineyard exponentially,” Governor Eno said.

Reflecting on the theme of the celebratory event, “The Man from Ohafia,” the Governor added a personal touch: “I would say ‘The Man from Ohafia and God’s Gift to Akwa Ibom.’ For most of his life, Akwa Ibom has been an integral part of his ministry. He has proudly projected our state to the world through his evangelistic pursuits.”

Governor Eno extended birthday wishes from his South-South colleagues, expressing gratitude for Rev. Ukpai’s unwavering support and prayers.

“We have benefited immensely from his spiritual counsel and the immense love he has shown to our people and leaders. We do not take this for granted. My prayer is that God continues to bless him with mercy, grace, long life, and abundant blessings. Happy birthday, God’s own general!”

The guest speaker at the event, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, delivered a message based on Psalm 91:1, 14-16. He reassured Christians of divine safety for those who abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Congratulating Rev. Ukpai on joining the league of octogenarians, Pastor Adeboye reminded the audience of the inevitability of God’s call, urging them to be prepared.

The event drew prominent personalities, including the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Elder Udeme Otong, Secretary to the State Government Prince Enobong Uwah, and other dignitaries.

Religious leaders such as Rev. Ayo Oritsejafor and Bishop Mike Okonkwo were also present to honor Rev. Ukpai’s milestone.
