Governor Zulum dissolves Borno State cabinet, orders commissioners to hand over
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has dissolved the state executive council, relieving all commissioners of their duties.
The directive was announced on Monday in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani.
According to the statement, the affected commissioners have been instructed to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to permanent secretaries on or before April 3, 2026.
“The decision is to provide an enabling environment for any member of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections,” the statement said.
Zulum expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their service, commending their contributions to governance and development in the state.
The development follows a similar pattern by other state governments, which have asked political appointees seeking elective offices to resign in compliance with provisions of the amended Electoral Act.
