Govs Makinde, Adeleke, others to celebrate Felix Owolabi’s 70th birthday

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, and Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, are set to lead a host of dignitaries, sports icons, and Nigerian football legends in celebrating the 70th birthday of Dr. Felix Owolabi Akinloye, a former Green Eagles star.
The milestone celebration will honor Dr. Owolabi-Akinloye’s outstanding contributions to Nigerian football, reminiscing on his illustrious career.
The highlight of the celebration will be a star-studded novelty match at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Ibadan, on Friday, November 22, 2024.
The event promises to rekindle memories of Nigeria’s footballing excellence, featuring some of the country’s legendary players, including Chief Segun Odegbami, Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju, Kadiri Ikhana, and Augustine Eguavoen.
The first match, scheduled for 3 p.m., will pit Ex-Internationals against Ibadan All-Stars, while the second game at 4 p.m. will see Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) face off against Osun United, the team representing Dr. Owolabi’s state of origin. These matches will showcase the exceptional talent and camaraderie of Nigeria’s football legends.
Governor Makinde and Senator Adeleke’s participation underscores Dr. Owolabi-Akinloye’s profound impact on Nigerian football and his enduring legacy as a football icon.
Other activities include a thanksgiving ceremony on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Bolads Events Centre, New Garage, Akala-Express, Elewure Bus Stop, Ibadan. The ceremony will provide an avenue for friends, family, and colleagues to pay tribute to the living legend and celebrate his life and achievements.
