Group drums support for AbdulRazaq’s second term bid

Members of an influential political association in Kwara State, Kwara Progressive Caucus (KPC), have endorsed the state governor, AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq for second term.

Chairman of the group which has intimidating presence across the 193 wards in the state, Malam Yusuf Mohammed announced this on Wednesday at the end of a special meeting of members of the group in Ilorin, the state capital.

Yusuf said AbdulRazaq has performed creditably well to deserve a re-election come 2023, adding that the governor’s giant strides in education, health and sports sectors as well as infrastructural developments are physical on the ground for all to see.

He said civil servants, local government workers and basic school teachers have never had it so good.

“These set of public workers who are the engine room of any administration now enjoy regular full salary payment and promotion,” he added.

Mohammed dismissed the rumour milling the round that the KPC members have dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said the viral news of their purported defection from APC to PDP was the handiwork of paid agents of the PDP.

The KPC chairman advised the leadership of the PDP to be wary of fake people parading themselves as members of the association.

“No single authentic member of KPC has decamped to PDP.

“We are solidly behind the performing governor, His Excellency, AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq and we shall work to ensure his re- election during the 2023 general elections as we did in 2019.

“We are not money mongers and selfish individuals. Our reason for supporting Governor AbdulRazaq in 2019 was premised on the dire need for the development of our dear state.

“And today, Kwara is witnessing development in all sectors. So, we shall support the governor for a re-election in 2023 so that he can continue with the good job he has been doing in the last three years,” he added.
