Group urges APC to adopt ex–deputy governor as party’s flag bearer

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The BOA Ambassadors, a political support group, have urged key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to adopt the immediate past deputy governor, Benedict Olugboyega Alabi (BOA), as the party’s candidate.
The group called on APC national leader, Chief Bisi Akande; minister of marine and blue economy, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola; the Osun APC elders’ caucus (Igbimo Agba Osun); and other stakeholders to rally behind Alabi, describing him as a loyal party man and a committed servant of the people.
The BOA Ambassadors, in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo, said Alabi is a unifying figure whose politics is rooted in peace, stability and progress, and that his tenure as deputy governor was marked by consistent efforts to promote reconciliation and internal harmony — qualities they believe the APC urgently needs ahead of 2026.
The group also pointed to his governance experience, recalling his interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic, his role in handling the Ifon/Ilobu and Erin-Osun land dispute, and his involvement in strengthening the LAUTECH joint ownership structure between Osun and Oyo states.
The group further highlighted his respect for party elders and his reputation for discipline, dependability and trustworthiness, as well as his steadfast loyalty to the party and to his principal, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola.
They recalled that on 13 July 2020, Oyetola described Alabi as “a deputy governor every reasonable and responsible governor would always crave for,” praising his loyalty, commitment and dedication to the ideals and policies of the APC administration.
The BOA Ambassadors said such commendations speak to Alabi’s integrity, competence and compassion, insisting that he has demonstrated consistency, humility and genuine concern for the people.
They appealed to party leaders at all levels to hand the APC governorship ticket to Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, assuring that he has never disappointed the party and will remain committed to its progress and the prosperity of Osun State.
