‘Gwo-Gwo-Gwo’ star, Mike Ejeagha, dies at 95

Legendary Nigerian highlife musician, Mike Ejeagha, has died at the age of 95.
The highlife icon, whose hit song Gwo Gwo Gwo recently regained popularity after skitmaker Brainjotter danced to it, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025.
Ejeagha was widely celebrated for blending traditional Igbo folklore and proverbs into his distinctive musical style.
He was pronounced dead by doctors at the 32 Garrison Hospital in Enugu after a prolonged illness.
His eldest son, Emma Ejeagha, confirmed the news of his passing.
Ejeagha rose to national prominence in the 1980s, becoming a household name through his rich, storytelling approach to music that resonated deeply across generations.
