Hardship: NLC begins protest in Lagos

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have begun the nationwide protest in Lagos.
The protesters gathered around 8:10am at the popular Ikeja under-bridge where the Lagos Chairman of NLC, Funmi Sessi addressed them on the modalities of the protest.
They were seen with placards with inscriptions like ‘ End Hunger and Poverty Now’, ‘Stop The Looting’, ‘Tax The Rich and Subsidise The Poor’ amongst others.

Sessi stated that the protesters would move from Ikeja underbridge to Lagos Government House in Alausa to submit their protest letter to the state government.

She added that the protest would be peaceful, adding that the security agents were expected to protect them while moving to the Government House.
” This protest is organised by th Nigerian Labour Congress and comrades from CSOs because we are all affected by the hardship in Nigeria. You can see also that the police are here to join us because we go to the same market. We are all feeling the economic hardship. I want to say that this is a peaceful protest.

“We are moving from here (Ikeja Underbridge) to Alausa, the seat of the government to submit our protest letter. We will move through Awolowo way towards Allen Avenue junction then to Alausa”, said the NLC Chairman.
