Hijrah 1447: Osun declares Friday public holiday as Adeleke preaches unity

The Osun State Government has declared Friday, June 27, 2025, as a public holiday to mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1447AH.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Aderibigbe Kayode Rasheed, who congratulated Muslims and urged residents to embrace unity, peace, and togetherness during the celebration.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, in a message signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, extended warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah in Osun State and beyond as they mark the Islamic New Year.
The governor described Hijrah as a moment of spiritual renewal, sacrifice, and a reminder of the strength found in unity and peaceful coexistence.
“The Hijrah reminds us of the strength found in unity, the courage to stand for truth, and the grace of peaceful coexistence. Let us use this sacred moment to recommit ourselves to building a more inclusive, compassionate, and harmonious society where our diversity becomes our greatest strength,” Adeleke said.
He commended the Muslim community in Osun for their contributions to peace, development, and progress in the state, adding that their devotion and discipline remain a vital force in building a better Osun.
