House of Assembly tasks police on improved security in Ogun

Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, has challenged the State Police Command to confront the rising cases of insecurity in the state.

Oluomo specifically tasked the state Police Commissioner to improve its security architecture through operational surveillance to address the prevailing security situations, especially the incessant cases of armed robbery in Ago-Iwoye and other parts of the State. 

Oluomo disclosed this in his response to the submission of a member representing Ijebu North II State Constituency, Hon. Dare Kadiri, who spoke on the incessant armed robbery incidents that occurred in his Constituency.

Oluomo challenged the State Police Command and other security agencies to immediately step up their game by reviewing their operations in the State, especially around Ago-Iwoye, which has its peculiarities as a community hosting a state-owned Olabisi Onabanjo University.

He stressed the need to ensure strategic protection of whistle-blower for effective intelligent gathering towards improving security networks for the safety of lives and property. 

The Speaker also admonished members of the Community Development Associations, religious organizations, traditional rulers and all residents in the State to always liaise with security operatives towards nipping crimes and criminalities 

Meanwhile, Speaker Oluomo has directed the Committee on Works and Infrastructure to liaise with the Bureau of Electrical Services (BEES) towards setting machineries in motion to address the vandalism of high tension cable in Ogun Waterside State Constituency as reported by his Deputy, Akeem Balogun.

The Deputy Speaker had earlier reported under personal explanation at the plenary, the power outage in his constituency which created room for some unscrupulous elements to vandalize the high tension cables leading to total blackouts in the area.
