House of Reps aspirant Bamigbetan wins City People recognition award

Frontline aspirant for the House of Representatives, Oshodi-Isolo II Federal Constituency in Lagos State, Kehinde Bamigbetan, has received a Special Recognition in Politics Award from City People magazine.

The award was announced by the publisher of City People, Seye Kehinde, who said the selection committee found Bamigbetan worthy following a review of his political engagements spanning students’ unionism, labour activism, local government administration and state-level service.

In a notification letter, Kehinde said: “On behalf of the management of City People Magazine, I write to inform you that you have been nominated for the Special Recognition Award in Politics.”

The award was formally presented at the magazine’s boardroom on Monday, where Kehinde praised Bamigbetan’s political approach, describing it as driven by intellectual analysis, grassroots engagement and strategic communication.

The presentation also featured a detailed interview with the House of Representatives aspirant, during which he spoke on his ambition, his chances in the May 18, 2026, party primaries, and his assessment of the Tinubu administration.

Speaking on the state of the nation, Bamigbetan commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for fulfilling its electoral promises, noting that some of the policies required difficult but necessary decisions.

On his political ambition, he insisted he deserved the party’s ticket, recalling that he had stepped down in 2015 and 2023 to allow incumbent House of Representatives members to contest on the party’s platform.

“I am ready for the party primaries. I was ready to win in 2015 and 2023 before I was persuaded to step down so the incumbents could run for a second term. I have recharged and retrofitted my political machinery and I am more formidable than ever,” he said.
