How Obanikoro’s son regained APC Reps ticket

Son of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Hon. Ibrahim Obanikoro has reportedly regained his All Progressives Congress (APC) re-election ticket for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.

WesternPost had reported that Obanikoro lost at the party’s primary election to the younger brother of popular Lagos monarch, HRM Saheed Elegushi, Prince Oyekanmi Elegushi on May 27th.

Prince Elegushi defeated the younger Obanikoro with 2 votes at the primary.

It was gathered that the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) prevailed on Prince Elegushi to withdraw from the race for political balancing and allow Hon. Obanikoro to serve his second term in office.

WesternPost further learnt that the GAC took the action to pacify Senator Obanikoro who lost to the former deputy governor of the state, Dr Idiat Adebule at the APC Lagos West senatorial primaries.

One of the GAC members who spoke with WesternPost, but did not want his name mentioned, said the elders felt there was need to carry all stakeholders in the Lagos APC along in the scheme of things, adding that Senator Obanikoro was never a pushover in the state’s politics.

He added: “We have to make the moves we did for Ibrahim to return to the House of Representatives. This is also to pacify his father (Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro) who is a bigwig in our party. With this, we have addressed his grievances about how he lost the Senatorial ticket.”
