Hunger protesters besiege portharcourt residence of FCT Minister

The hunger protesters on Tuesday besieged the residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, singing the old national anthem with vigour.
As the nationwide hunger protest entered the sixth day, the protesters, in a viral video on the social media platforms were seen marching to Wike’s residence while holding palm fronds.
As they reached Wike’s mansion which was heavily guarded by uniformed police officers, the majority of the protesters sat on the tarred road in front of the house.
A police tank was parked in front of the mansion and the demonstrators did not move close to it. They stood afar chanting the Arise-O-compatriots anthem while raising the palm fronds in the air at intervals.
It would be recalled that the protest started six days ago nationwide except the Southeast region where the Igbos failed to join in the protest.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu had on Sunday in a network broadcast, called for the suspension of the hunger protest, saying that he had heard the protesters loud and clear.
Although, after the broadcast, the protesters did not back down, claiming that the President did not address the issues raised.
