I will resign as Minister if Kano APC Chairman is re-elected – Abdullahi Ata

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has declared that he will resign from his ministerial position and the All Progressives Congress (APC) if the party’s current state chairman in Kano, Abdullahi Abbas, is re-elected.

Speaking at a press conference in Kano on Monday, Ata criticized the APC leadership in the state, citing its role in the party’s loss during the last election.

“We oppose the reinstatement of the current APC leadership in Kano, given what happened in the last election. If the leadership remains, I will resign from my ministerial post and leave the APC,” he stated.

The minister emphasized his commitment to integrity and respect for elders, saying, “We will not compromise our values.” He also accused the party leadership of making divisive statements that contributed to APC’s poor performance in 2023.

Ata urged the party to rebuild trust with Kano residents by engaging individuals of integrity. “Votes and money do not grant power; only God bestows authority,” he added.

He called on politicians across all parties to promote peace, respect each other, and adhere to democratic principles.
