The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has honoured the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, and other notable Nigerians with various categories of awards.

Governor Diri received an award for exemplary leadership, while Speaker Ogundoyin was honoured as a Friend of Ibadan.

While receiving the award, presented by former governor and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, Diri expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating that the honour extended beyond him to the people of Bayelsa State and the entire Niger Delta.

“We never saw the award coming. I thank the leadership of the CCII and the entire people of Ibadanland for this honour,” he said. “I also urge the people of the state to keep supporting Governor Makinde. He is performing well, and the people are rejoicing. His performance affirms the scripture that when the righteous rule, the people rejoice.”

Presenting the award earlier, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin — represented by Oba Rasidi Ladoja — said the award was in recognition of Senator Diri’s outstanding support, inclusive leadership, and contributions to Ibadan indigenes living in Bayelsa State.

In his remarks, the President-General of the CCII, Chief Sulaimon Ajewole, commended Governor Makinde’s unwavering support for the council, Ibadanland, and Oyo State at large.

He also expressed appreciation to Ibadan indigenes at home and in the diaspora for their diverse support towards the success of the event.
