Ibadan ready for 2025 PDP convention, Southwest leaders assure

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest zone has declared its readiness to host a successful, peaceful, and well-organized National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, come November 2025.

In an official statement issued by the PDP National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Engr. Kamoru Toyese Ajisafe, the zonal leadership expressed profound gratitude to the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for selecting Ibadan as the host city for the high-profile event.

The statement also acknowledged the support of the National Working Committee (NWC), the Board of Trustees (BoT), and the PDP Governors’ Forum for their unanimous endorsement of the Southwest as the host region.

Ajisafe described the decision as a clear recognition of the strategic relevance and unwavering commitment of the Southwest to the growth and strength of the PDP.

“This decision is a demonstration of the confidence the national leadership reposes in our zone. Ibadan, as the political heartbeat of the Southwest, is fully capable of hosting a convention of this scale with excellence and discipline,” he stated.

Reaffirming the zone’s loyalty, Ajisafe emphasized that the entire Southwest remains united and committed to the progress and unity of the PDP, adding that party faithful across the region are excited to welcome delegates from across the country.

He noted that the upcoming convention would serve as a major unifying force to further solidify the PDP’s internal structures and lay the groundwork for future electoral successes.

The statement concluded with a note of appreciation to the Acting National Chairman, Amb. Illiya Damagum, and other national leaders for what Ajisafe described as a rare privilege bestowed on the Southwest.
