The management of Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Ibadan, has dismissed as “fake news” the circulating reports claiming that the station’s Chairman, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat; the former queen of the Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola; and the Principal of Islamic High School, Abdullahi Fasasi, have been released from detention.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the management clarified that Alhaji Hamzat is still in custody and has not been released, contrary to the rumors being spread online.

The management urged the public to disregard these false claims and cautioned those propagating the rumors to desist from such actions.

“We understand that the rumors may have caused unnecessary anxiety and concern among our listeners and well-wishers. We assure them that we will keep them informed of any developments regarding Alhaji Hamzat’s case,” the statement read.

Social media has been flooded with unverified claims that Hamzat, Naomi, and the school principal have been granted bail.

It is worth recalling that the trio were remanded at Agodi Prison by a Magistrate Court following the tragic stampede at the Ibadan children’s funfair held at Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan.
