Identigo debuts in Nigeria with hybrid identity verification platform to tackle fraud

Identigo, a cutting-edge identity verification platform, has officially launched in Nigeria with the aim of combating rising incidents of fraud, cybercrime, and security threats. The launch event took place on Thursday at the company’s headquarters in Lekki, Lagos.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of Identigo, Ms. Olabusayo Soetan, said the platform fills a critical gap in Nigeria’s security landscape by offering reliable verification services that help individuals and organizations make informed decisions.

“Decisions such as hiring, partnerships, or conducting background checks on visa applicants come with significant risks when done without verified data,” Soetan stated. “Identigo ensures that people know exactly who they are dealing with before taking any action. Our focus is on preventive security rather than curative.”

Identigo’s services are accessible through its mobile app, available on Google Play and Apple App Stores. The app offers instant access to identity, NIN, BVN and passport verification, employment history and credential checks, guarantor and reference validation, and business partnership due diligence.

What sets Identigo apart, according to Soetan, is its hybrid approach that combines technology with field verification. “We merge cutting-edge technology with Nigeria’s largest physical verification network. Thousands of trained agents verify addresses, interview referees, and confirm details on the ground. This ensures unmatched accuracy where digital data falls short,” she explained.

Endorsing the platform, Head of Marketing at Tantacom Group, Identigo’s marketing partner, Mr. John Fadejola, said the company’s solutions are key to building a more transparent and secure business environment in Africa. “Identigo’s tech-driven and preventative model redefines verification, and our role is to ensure that these solutions reach the right audience at the right time,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, the CEO of Code and Tales, Mr. Temitope Owoeye, shared a testimonial on the platform’s effectiveness. “Identigo transformed our hiring process and enhanced client trust. Their thorough verifications have become indispensable to our operations,” he said.
