IFC to deploy team to Nigeria to explore investment in livestock, energy, housing

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) says it will send a team to Nigeria to explore scalable investment structures aimed at unlocking private capital in livestock, energy, and housing sectors.
The Managing Director of the IFC, Diop Makhtar, disclosed this on Thursday during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on the sidelines of the 13th Africa CEO Summit in Kigali, where discussions focused on expanding investment partnerships in Africa’s key productive sectors.
Makhtar said the planned mission would engage Nigerian authorities and private sector stakeholders on modalities for collaboration in infrastructure development and economic growth.
He said, “The International Finance Corporation would immediately send a mission to Nigeria to explore scalable investment structures that could unlock private capital into the sector.”
He added that the IFC is interested in strengthening cooperation with Nigeria across energy, housing, and livestock production.
Makhtar, who led a delegation that included Ethiopis Tafara, Regional Vice President for Africa, and Dahlia Khalifa, Director for Central Africa and Nigeria, praised President Tinubu’s reform agenda.
He said, “President Tinubu, you have been so courageous in removing the subsidy. When you did it, I said to myself, President Tinubu took the bull by the horns.”
He described Nigeria’s reforms as bold and transformative, saying they had improved investor confidence in the country’s economic direction.
