IFMSL clears air on Wike’s contract termination

The management of Integrated Facility Management Services Ltd (IFMSL) has written to the FCT minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, seeking resolution to the termination of International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja management.

The FCT minister, had terminated with immediate effect, the contract of IFMSL for the management of ICC, Abuja.

The minister awarded the contract for the immediate comprehensive renovation of the center to Julius Berger Nig Plc. Julius Berger constructed the International Conference Center, completing it in 1990. 

The Managing Director, IFMSL, Sen Ahmad MoAllahyidi in a letter titled, “purported termination of the contract for management of Abuja ICC by IFMSL” addressed to the FCT minister clarify that the ECOWAS parliament building where all invited guest where directed to undergo accreditation before proceeding to Africa hall in the International Conference centre adjacent the parliament building.

“The two facilities are managed by two different entities. ECOWAS parliament building under renovation is managed by Julius Berger while ICC is managed by Integrated Facility Management Services.

“The building the Hon. Minister entered for his accreditation was the diplomatic ECOWAS parliament building managed by Julius Berger. It is the building with failing facilities not ICC managed by Integrated Facility Management Services as per attached pictures below.

“By way of further clearance we state that ICC is a world-class facility with state of the art halls well maintained and regularly improved by IFMSL.”

He expressed further that, “It is worth noting Hon. Minister that the Management of Integrated Facility Management Services has a subsisting 10-year contract of managing the ICC. This contract is sacred under law by pacta sunt servanda.

“Hon. Minister, Integrated Facility Management Services Ltd, is one of the foremost facility management companies in Nigeria. It has brought to bear its wealth of experience in the management of high-profile facilities over the years in its operation of the ICC. With its world class management ideas and initiatives, IFMSL has turned ICC into a national icon that is the pride of the nation. These events include the recent inauguration by His Excellency President Ahmed Bola Tinubu of the new leadership of the ECOWAS Parliament.

“The ICC at the moment is at the peak of its performance as a hospitality center judging by the multi-year booking by corporate organizations, donor agencies, development partners, individuals and the international community.”

He, however, called on the Hon. Minister of FCT to undertake a tour of the ICC facility at his convenient time, stating that the IFMSL be not punished for the failing of Julius Berger management of ECOWAS diplomatic Parliament building.
