Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced a new curfew from 6 PM to 6 AM in Ifon and Ilobu communities, following renewed communal clashes.
The governor had previously imposed a curfew due to ongoing violence, but expressing dissatisfaction over the continued unrest, he directed that the stricter curfew take effect from Friday, March 21, 2025.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, confirmed the new directive, stating that a joint security team will maintain a 24-hour surveillance to prevent further violence.
“The Governor has directed that the initial 10 PM to 4 AM curfew be extended to 6 PM to 6 AM, effective today, Friday, March 21, 2025, until further notice,” the statement read.
Governor Adeleke also mandated an urgent stakeholders’ meeting for Saturday, March 22, 2025, involving traditional rulers—Oba Peter Oluwole Akinyooye, the Olufon of Ifon, and Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan, the Olobu of Ilobu—along with other community leaders to seek lasting peace.
He urged residents and their leaders to embrace peace, warning that anyone found instigating violence would face legal consequences.
