Alhaja Serifat Abas, wife of the Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, has been installed as the Osi-Iyalaje of Igboora land in a colourful traditional ceremony.

The installation ceremony, held on Saturday at the historic Igboora Community Town Hall in Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State, also saw Chief Idowu Akinteye installed as the Otunba Ariwajoye of Igboora by the traditional rulers of the community.

The installation rites were performed by the Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye; the Olu-Aso of Iberekodoland, Oba Jamiu Badmus; and the Onidere of Idereland, Oba Kingsley Onikola, among others.

Chief Oje Morakinyo, speaking on behalf of the community leaders, said the honours were in recognition of the recipients’ personal and family legacies of community service.

Morakinyo, a former Oyo State Commissioner, noted that the new chiefs come from families with a long-standing record of developmental impact in Igboora land.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Abas expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers and the people of Igboora for the honour, pledging continued support for initiatives that would promote economic and social growth across Igboora and its surrounding communities.

Prominent dignitaries at the event included Chief Gboyega Olaoye, former Oyo Head of Service; retired Justice Gboyega Akinteye and his wife; as well as Dr. Razaq Tijani and his wife.

Others were Chief Akinyemi Akinlabi, Alhaji Jamiu Kareem, and many other notable sons and daughters of the land.
