Ignore critics; your performance will secure victory – Fayose tells Oyebanji

By Boye Oyeyemi –
Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has urged Governor Biodun Oyebanji to ignore political blackmailers and social media critics, saying his achievements in office will earn him victory in the 2026 governorship election.
Fayose gave the advice on Monday at Igbara Odo during the commissioning of the 14-kilometre Igbara Odo–Ikogosi road, one of the projects marking the third anniversary of Oyebanji’s administration.
He commended the governor for promoting unity among Ekiti leaders across party lines, describing him as a man of humility, capacity, and vision for the state’s progress.
“Don’t be bothered about blackmailers and wailers barking at your backyard, especially those making negative narratives on the internet. Allow them to be there. The people of Ekiti are not moved by their rantings. I experienced serious crises during my tenure, but you are taking things easy, turning things around and uniting everybody,” Fayose said.
He expressed confidence that Oyebanji’s developmental strides would speak for him, saying the governor’s popularity among the masses showed that he had already won public approval ahead of the next election.
Governor Oyebanji, in his remarks, praised the quality of work done on the road and said it would enhance economic and social development.
He also urged the Igbara Odo and Ikogosi communities to settle their land dispute to enable more government projects.
The Arajaka of Igbara Odo, Oba Edward Jayeola, thanked the governor for the project and assured that the community would protect it while supporting Oyebanji’s re-election bid.
