IGP attends AFRIPOL Steering Committee Meeting, aims to improve security in Africa
The Inspector General of Police of Nigeria, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, is attending the 12th African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL) Steering Committee Meeting in Algiers, Algeria.
The meeting, held from October 29-30, 2024, brings together top African law enforcement officials to address pressing security issues affecting the continent.
IGP Egbetokun joined representatives from the AU Secretariat, AFRIPOL, and chairpersons of sub-regional police committees, including SARPCCO, CAPCCO, and NAPCCO. The discussions center on key challenges such as terrorism, human trafficking, and cybercrime—issues that cross national borders and require collaborative solutions.
In his role as Chairman of the West African Police Chiefs’ Committee (WAPCCO), IGP Egbetokun represents West African police organizations at the meeting.
He expressed optimism that the shared expertise at AFRIPOL will contribute significantly to the development of effective strategies to curb transnational crimes across Africa.
