IGP honours officer who rejected $200,000 bribe in Kano

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has commended and presented an award to a police officer in Kano state, SP Daniel Amah, for rejecting a $200,000 bribe offered him by some criminals to compromise investigation.

SP Amah is the divisional police officer, Nassarawa Divisional headquarters, Kano state.

Kano state police spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Kano.

He said that a commendation letter signed by the I-G was presented to Amah by the deputy commissioner of police in charge of administration in Kano, Abubakar Zubairu,

The image maker said, “Amah was highly commended for maintaining outstanding excellent work, uncommon focus, dedication to duty and exhibition of sound professionalism, leading to the arrest and prosecution of one Ali Zaki and some police officers in a case of armed robbery involving the sum of N320.5 million and also rejecting 200,000 dollars offered to him as bribe.”

Recall that in April this year, SP Amah arrested and investigated one Ali Zaki for armed robbery.

Upon his arrest, Mr Zaki offered 200,000 dollars as bribe to SP Amah in order to let him off the hook and compromise the case but the police officer rejected the offer and continued with his investigation.
