IGP orders probe of Kwam1 over Abuja airport incident
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the Nigeria Police Force Airport Command to investigate Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate (Kwam1), following an alleged altercation with airport staff.
Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Tuesday, said the directive came after the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) petitioned the police over the incident, which reportedly occurred on 5 August 2025 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to the petition, K1 De Ultimate allegedly engaged in unruly conduct that obstructed the safe operation of an aircraft, in violation of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023.
Egbetokun directed the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Command to conduct a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure justice is served.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to upholding safety and security within the nation’s aviation sector,” the statement read.
Adejobi added that the police would continue to collaborate closely with aviation stakeholders to strengthen compliance with aviation laws and improve security at airports across the country.
