IGP visits Plateau following deadly attacks in Bassa LGA

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has paid a condolence visit to Plateau State following a wave of violent attacks in Bassa Local Government Area that left dozens of residents dead.
Accompanied by top-ranking officers including AIG Funsho Adegboye (Police Mobile Force), AIG Zachariah Fera (Zone 4), and AIG Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka (Commandant, Police Staff College Jos), the IGP met with Plateau State Governor, His Excellency Caleb Mutfwang, at the Government House to express sympathy on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force.
During the meeting, IGP Egbetokun strongly condemned the attacks and pledged that the police would intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible. He assured the governor and residents of the state that security would be strengthened and justice pursued for the victims.
“The Nigeria Police Force is committed to restoring peace and ensuring the safety of all communities across Plateau State,” the IGP stated.
The police chief also held a strategy session with tactical commanders in the state to assess current deployments and review plans for enhancing security operations in affected areas.
As part of the renewed efforts, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, has been directed to oversee the security response and coordinate peace-restoration efforts.
The Police Force reaffirmed its dedication to protecting citizens and bringing those behind the violence to justice, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to securing the lives and property of Nigerians.
