Iheanacho marks Scottish League debut with winning goal for Celtic

By Tosin Omojola –
Nigerian international, Kelechi Iheanacho, marked his Scottish league debut in spectacular fashion on Sunday, scoring a late winner for Celtic in their 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock.
Iheanacho’s stoppage-time penalty was enough to hand the Hoops all three points at Rugby Park.
The Nigerian forward, who joined the Scottish Premiership champions on a free transfer earlier this month, started the match on the bench before replacing Daizen Maeda in the 70th minute.
Maeda had earlier put Celtic ahead in the 55th minute, heading home from close range after a well-placed cross by Marcelo Saracchi.
Kilmarnock drew level through David Watson, whose powerful header from a corner left Kasper Schmeichel stranded.
With the match heading for a draw, a VAR review awarded Celtic a late penalty for handball.
Iheanacho kept his composure to smash the spot-kick into the top corner with the final kick of the game, securing all three points and preserving Celtic’s unbeaten start to the Premiership campaign.
