By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo

Osun State Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola has assured residents of the state that his government will continue to be more inclusive and responsive.

The governor promised that he will continue to run an open and participatory government that will be for the benefit of all and sundry.

He stated this in Osogbo while addressing residents at the “Citizens Consultative Forum” in preparation for the 2023 budget.

The Citizens Consultative Forum, is a program put together by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget to allow citizens have an input in the preparation of the State’s budget to capture the actual needs of the people.

Represented at the program by Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Prof. Olalekan Yinusa, Oyetola said the needs and wants of the people of Osun remain his top priority in government.

He said his government has been and will continue to be for the people, stressing that every responsible government must always strive to give the people what they want at all times.

Oyetola noted that his government, for the past three and half years, the budgets of the state have always been prepared to accommodate the actual needs of the people.

He noted that this method was put in place to guide against embarking on projects that people might not need, thereby wasting public funds.

“We remain committed to running an open and transparent government, government should be for the people and what they want should be determined by them and not anybody determining what to give them.

“As a government, it is our resolve not to leave anyone behind in the scheme of things, the masses own the government, they have to know whatever happens, the State budget is for the people, the best thing is to let them have an input in the formulation process, that’s why we have come to ask them what they want,” he stated.

Also speaking, Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Taiwo Olodo while assuring residents of more dividends of democracy, from the government, stressed that the best decision residents of Osun can take this month is to vote and re-elect Governor Oyetola for a second term on July 16th.
