‘I’ll win if I contest for Oyo governorship’ – Oriyomi Hamzat

By Adejayan Gbenga –

Popular Ibadan-based broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat, has expressed strong confidence that he would win if he decides to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.

Speaking during a recent live broadcast monitored by WESTERN POST, Hamzat reacted indignantly to a caller from abroad who advised him against running for the governorship seat.

The caller had warned the veteran broadcaster not to allow himself to be used by politicians, claiming that those pushing him to contest were only deceiving him and would not vote for him during the election.

The caller also cautioned that Hamzat might lose his radio station if he took such a step.

In his response, Oriyomi countered the caller, asserting that if he decided to run, he would win the election.

Speaking in Yoruba, he said, “You’re calling from abroad and judging. If I come out, I will win,” he boasted.

“Don’t compare me with anybody. Stop advising me like that,” he added.

There have been speculations that the broadcaster may be considering a run for the governorship after his posters appeared across Ibadan last week ahead of the 2027 general election.
