The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ilorin West Local Government Chapter, held a significant event on Sunday with the inauguration of 13 neighborhood executives. This event marks a new chapter in the spiritual and communal leadership within the Ilorin West area, reflecting the commitment of CAN to fostering unity and growth among its members.
The newly inaugurated executives represent the Main Body, Youth, and Women wings of the association, underscoring a holistic approach to leadership that includes all demographics within the Christian community. The inauguration ceremony took place at the First Baptist Church, Suru-Lere, Ilorin, and was attended by a large congregation of faithful, eager to witness this momentous occasion.
In his address during the ceremony, Reverend Moses Ayorinde, the Ilorin West CAN Coordinator, lauded the electoral body for their diligence and commitment throughout the election process. He emphasized the importance of integrity and dedication in leadership, urging the new executives to serve with unwavering faithfulness. “On no account must God’s name be brought to reproach because of our actions,” he stated, highlighting the moral and spiritual responsibilities that come with their new roles.

The ceremony also featured a powerful exhortation by Reverend Dr. Olu Ayano, who encouraged the congregation with a message of hope and revival. Quoting Isaiah 60:1, “Arise, shine, for your light has come,” Reverend Ayano inspired the newly inaugurated executives and the congregation at large to rise to their full potential. He outlined seven steps to achieving spiritual elevation, each backed by biblical references, stressing that rising up signifies moving beyond past limitations.
Ayano’s message resonated with the audience, as he prayed fervently for the neighborhoods to rise and shine under the new leadership. His words were a call to action for all present, reinforcing the idea that effective leadership can lead to both spiritual and communal growth.
The ceremony concluded with a special prayer led by Pastor Abraham Oladele, who prayed for progress, unity, and divine glory for all 13 neighborhoods. This prayer session underscored the collective hope for a prosperous and harmonious future under the guidance of the newly elected executives.
The neighborhoods represented in this inauguration are: Adewole, Ayetoro/Joro, Gaa-Imam, Ita Alamu, Lao/Airport, Ogidi/Oloje, Oko-Erin/Irewolede, Olorunsogo/Gaa-Odota, Osere, Osin/Kangu, Saw-Mill, Stadium/Oja-Iya, and Suru-Lere.
