Former Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oloye Oyebisi Ilaka, has dismissed reports suggesting his defection from the party.
Ilaka, in a statement on Friday, reiterated his unwavering commitment to the PDP and emphasized that he has no intention of leaving the platform that has defined much of his political career.
“I remain a bona fide and loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party. The rumours making the rounds about my defection are entirely false and should be disregarded by the public and party faithful,” Ilaka said.
He also reaffirmed his support for the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde and urged his supporters to ignore the purported defection claims.
Ilaka, who contested the Oyo Central Senatorial seat under the PDP in the 2023 general elections, pledged to continue working for the progress and unity of the party in Oyo State.
