I’m not wanted by NDLEA- Mercy Aigbe’s hubby

The husband of ace actress, Mercy Aigbe and Chief Executive Officer of Adekaz Productions, Alhaji Kazim Adesoji Adeoti (Adekaz) has distanced himself from one Alhaji Ademola Afolabi, who was recently declared wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over offences bordering on alleged exportation and trafficking of illicit drugs and money laundering.
In a statement on Tuesday, Adeoti, who is also the Chairman of Ibakatv and a real estate investor threatened legal action against various media houses and bloggers who wrongly used his picture with the report despite having no family ties or any connection with the wanted Lagos socialite and hotelier.
His statement reads: “My attention has been drawn to news making the rounds with the above headline and my picture wrongly and illicitly used along with the report.
” Permit me to set the record straight for the sake of friends, colleagues and members of the public who have reached out to me or my family on the report.
“Firstly, l am Hon. Kazim Adesoji Adeoti, the Chairman of lbakatv and Chief Executive Officer of Adekaz Productions and not Alhaji Ademola Afolabi Kazeem, who is allegedly wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
“All my life, l have never been involved in the use of illicit drugs let alone trafficking such. It is also important to add that l don’t own or have any affiliation with any of the property listed in the report.
“I am a reputable movie producer, marketer and a real estate investor and l have never been involved in any illegal business (es). In fact, my friends and colleagues in the country and the United States of America, can attest to.”
He said the various media houses and bloggers ought to have dug dipper for the appropriate picture to use along with the report instead of using his own picture wrongly with the story.
“For emphasis, l am not the same person nor in anyway related to Alhaji Ademola, a hotelier and Lagos socialite that was allegedly declared wanted by the anti-narcotic drugs agency,” he added.
It would be recalled that news filtered in on Monday, that Alhaji Ademola, who is the Chairman of Adekaz Hotels, was declared wanted by the anti-narcotics agency over alleged exportation and trafficking of illicit drugs as well as money laundering.
The decision to declare the suspect wanted followed his failure to honour NDLEA invitations and an order granted the Agency by a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday 17th October, 2022.
The NDLEA has since sealed seven of the identified property of the suspect in Lagos Island and Ibadan in addition to blocking his bank account with a cash balance of N217 million.
