An Islamic cleric, Professor Luqman Zakariyah, on Friday offered prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the wedding fatiha of the children of the Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Bello Matawalle, held at the National Mosque, Abuja.

Professor Zakariyah, who officiated the multiple wedding ceremony, described President Tinubu as a father to all and prayed that his tenure would restore hope to the hopeless in society.

President Tinubu attended the ceremony and stood in for the Matawalle family during the solemnisation. Also present at the event was the President of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Manuel Vila Nova.

During the prayers, the cleric asked Almighty Allah to grant the President good health, long life and success in office, noting that his leadership represents all Nigerians.

Matawalle, a former Governor of Zamfara State, gave out five of his daughters — Maryam, Safiyya, Farida, Nana Firdausi and Aisha — in marriage. Five of his sons — Ibrahim, Abdul Jalal, Surajo, Bello and Fahad — were also joined in matrimony.

President Tinubu formally received the brides on behalf of the Matawalle family.

The Imam also prayed for divine blessings upon the couples, asking Allah to grant them successful marriages and to bless their parents and grandparents.

The ceremony was attended by state governors, members of the National Assembly, members of the Federal Executive Council, service chiefs, members of the diplomatic corps, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other well-wishers.
