Imo state man recounts how his mother died, father adopted after attack by IPOB

A harrowing tale of loss and courage has emerged from Amakohia Village , in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State as Mr. Obinna Paschal Nze , a key intelligence informant, narrated how his 59-year-old mother died and father was adopted by suspected Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members.

The family of Mr. Nze has expressed concern over the whereabouts of their father, who was taken away after some men, suspected to be members of the IPOB, invaded their home at Umukpe Amakohia Uratta Owerri, Orlu road,of Imo State in search of Obinna Paschal Nze .

Speaking with neighbors and a family source who pleaded anonymity said, “a group of stern-looking men, numbering over seven on Monday 11th day of August 2025 came to Mr. Innocent Nze’s house in gestapo style in search of his son when they were told he was not around. 

‘The hoodlums who identified themselves as the IPOB attacked the parents and inflicted injuries on them, chased Mr Innocent Nze and adopted him as he followed him immediately he ran.

“While they were leaving, we heard one of them saying, the only condition for which we will spare  the family is if Nze Obinna surrenders himself.”

According to the source, they left a message to his injured wife that they must do anything in their power to make sure that they get his son wherever he runs to.

Innocent Nze is in his late 60s, average height and dark in complexion. He speaks English and Igbo language. 

The family used the opportunity to appeal to members of the public or anyone with useful information about Innocent Nze’s whereabouts  should be reported to the nearest  police  station.
