INEC issues Adeleke Certificate of Return as Osun governor-elect

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued certificate of return to the Osun State Governor-elect and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saturday’s governorship election, Ademola Adeleke.

Nephew of the governor-elect and music star Davido shared pictures of presentation of the certificate of return on his Twitter page on Wednesday.

Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe declared Adeleke the winner of the Osun governorship election early Sunday morning.

Adeleke polled 403,371 votes to beat incumbent and candidate of the All Progressives Congress Gboyega Oyetola who had 375,027 votes.

Davido had earlier created controversy on Tuesday, when he questioned why INEC had not issued Adeleke the certificate of return more than 48 hours after the election.
