INEC to commence second phase of voter registration in Ondo

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to commence the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Ondo State on Monday.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Akure.

She said the first phase of the exercise, which ran from August 25 to December 10, 2025, recorded a total of 35,040 registrations across the state.

According to Babalola, the next phase is designed to ease access for prospective voters, particularly those in hard-to-reach areas and communities far from registration centres. She explained that INEC has approved the rotation of the Voter Enrolment Device (VED) across all 203 registration areas in the 18 local government areas of the state.

The REC noted that the device rotation would last for 50 days, from February 2 to April 10, 2026, excluding weekends and public holidays.

She added that a detailed rotation schedule has been prepared and made available at all INEC local government offices to ensure even coverage.

Providing a breakdown of the first phase, Babalola said the exercise produced 18,311 fresh registrations, including 177 persons with disabilities, alongside 9,501 transfers and 2,399 corrections.

She urged eligible residents, especially those in remote and underserved communities, to take advantage of the opportunity to register, advising the public to contact INEC offices or designated helplines for further information.
