The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced training for selected personnel in Ondo State on electronic election result collation and verification ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The three-day exercise, which began on Monday, focuses on the use of the Collation Support and Result Verification System to improve the accuracy, efficiency and reliability of election results.

The training is designed to equip technical and administrative staff with the skills needed to operate computers and relevant software for processing and verifying election results.

According to the commission, the initiative is expected to minimise errors in result collation and strengthen the credibility of the electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections and subsequent off-cycle polls.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, represented by the Head of Electoral Operations, Dr. Tope Akanmu, urged participants to take the exercise seriously and apply the knowledge gained in their duties.

Agboke charged the trainees to demonstrate commitment, professionalism and diligence, stressing that they must justify the confidence reposed in them by the commission.

He also emphasised the need for integrity in the discharge of their responsibilities, particularly during the collation and verification of results, noting the importance of maintaining public confidence in the electoral process.

The training is being facilitated by Victor Christopher of INEC’s Electoral Operations Department at the national headquarters. The exercise is expected to run for two additional days as the commission strengthens staff capacity and promotes transparency in election management.
