By Kunle Sanni –

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has suspended one of his aides, Sa’idu Enagi, over an article that speculated on the 2027 Niger State governorship race.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant (Media) to the minister, the ministry distanced itself from a write-up titled “Malagi 2027,” which discussed political permutations ahead of the next gubernatorial election in Niger State.

The minister categorically disclaimed the article, stressing that he neither directed nor approved its publication and has no interest in engaging in political activities outside his official responsibilities.

According to the statement, Mohammed Idris remains fully focused on his role at the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation and is committed to avoiding political distractions.

“The write-up and all its contexts are hereby vehemently disclaimed,” the statement said, urging the public to disregard the publication entirely.

The minister has also ordered an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the article. As part of the disciplinary measures, the aide who authored the piece has been issued a letter of suspension with immediate effect.

The statement further noted that the minister maintains a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, adding that premature speculation about the 2027 elections could undermine ongoing efforts aimed at the development of the state.

The ministry reaffirmed the minister’s commitment to professionalism, discipline, and the ethical conduct of his aides while in public service.
