Leaders of Isin Local Government Area, Kwara State, have appealed to the Nigerian Army for the establishment of a Forward Operating Base (FOB) to tackle insecurity and boost development in the region.
A delegation led by the Chairman of the Isin Traditional Council, Oba Dr. Solomon Oloyede, the Olusin of Isanlu Isin, and his Vice Chairman, Oba Pharmacist Ajibola Ademola Julius, the Olusin of Ijara Isin, visited the Army Headquarters in Abuja to present the request.
The team included Hon. Tunji Olawuyi Ajuloopin, House of Representatives Member for Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin/Irepodun Federal Constituency; Engr. Cornelius Segun Adebayo, Executive Secretary of NALDA; Hon. Benjamin Lanre Jolayemi, Isin LG Chairman; Maj. Gen. Adekeye representing the military; Dr. Olatayo Abikoye, project initiator; and Engr. Tunde Fadipe, former TIC Chairman of Isin.
The leaders said the proposed FOB would provide a rapid-response base to deter crime, protect residents, and improve investor confidence in Kwara South. They stressed that the facility would also support agriculture, create jobs, and stimulate local commerce.
The initiative aligns with the security priorities of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, who has consistently emphasized safety as a foundation for growth in the state.
Community stakeholders described the move as a united effort by traditional rulers, political leaders, and technocrats to ensure peace and development, expressing optimism that the Army would grant the request.
