Iyabo Ojo threatens legal action against Baba Ijesha over alleged false claims

Veteran Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has threatened legal action against her colleague, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, over alleged false claims involving her children.

The actress warned him to desist from involving her children in his narrative, stating that failure to comply could result in a lawsuit.

Baba Ijesha, who recently completed his jail term after being convicted in a rape case involving a minor, appeared on actress Biola Bayo’s podcast, where he shared his version of events, insisting he was framed and did not commit the act as alleged by the complainant, Damilola Adekoya, also known as Princess.

During the interview, the comic actor described Iyabo Ojo as one of his protégés and expressed disappointment over her actions. He also claimed that the actress once left her children in his care for over two hours while she went shopping.

It would be recalled that Iyabo Ojo was among the activists who strongly advocated for justice for the minor involved in the 2021 case, supporting Princess and resisting pressure from some Nollywood stakeholders at the time.

Reacting to the claims, the actress took to her Instagram story on Sunday in a post titled “Setting the Record Straight,” where she warned Baba Ijesha against using her children to gain public sympathy. She refuted his claims, stating that her children were never left in the care of anyone other than her late mother or their nannies.

She said, “I honestly have no problem with you, Baba Ijesha, telling your side of the story. But take this as notice to cease and desist from using my children as your cheap bait. It won’t fly.”

The actress further urged the comic actor to show remorse for the crime for which he was convicted, stressing that the victim was a minor and that sexual assault is a serious offence, while warning him to stop mentioning her children or risk legal action.
