Joke Silva, Kate Henshaw, others in stage play to honour women

Nigerian actresses, Joke Silva , Kate Henshaw, Chioma Chigul Omeruah, and Tosin Adeyemi are among movie stars billed to participate in a stage musical play ‘Ada The Country’.

A statement by Doyenne Circle, the storytelling medium, said the play has been in the making for 10 years.

The play highlights the power of the Nigerian women. The play will be showcased at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja on October 21 at 6:00 pm and October 22 at 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm.

‘Ada the Country’ tells the story of Ada, a young lady who loses her 9-month-old daughter and property in a fire incident in which she barely survives.

The statement read by the producers read:

“The traumatic experience sends her into depression but with the support of women across different generations, who have been through such harrowing experiences, she is able to walk through a process of restoration.

“It revolves around the experiences of women across different age grades, expressed through theatre. Renowned poet, Titilope Sonuga, did the beautiful work of piecing the story together through deep poetry, music and dance.

“‘Ada The Country’ features veterans and rising stars in the Nollywood industry bringing all their talent to stage ranging from music, acting to dancing.”

Marian Ogaziechi created the musical play. The musical play was also produced by Doyenne Circle, and directed by Kenneth Uphopho.
