JUST IN: Another Osun senator resigns PDP membership

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

Senator Olubiyi Oluwole Fadeyi, representing Osun Central Senatorial District, has officially resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking another major departure from the party in Osun State.

His resignation was conveyed in a letter dated June 12, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 3 Chairman in Oke-Ejigbo, Ila-Orangun. In the letter, Fadeyi cited irreconcilable differences, prolonged internal divisions, and a series of legal battles that have fractured the party at the national level over the past three years.

Fadeyi, who serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment, said his decision followed wide consultations with political associates, family members, and close allies.

He described the PDP’s internal crisis as a major hindrance to his continued political engagement under its platform, noting that the party has become increasingly unstable and factionalised.

Copies of his resignation letter were forwarded to the PDP National Chairman, the Osun State Chairman, and the Local Government party chairman in Ila-Orangun.

Recall that Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industry, also recently resigned from the PDP.

In a letter dated June 12, 2025, Fadahunsi cited irreparable differences and protracted legal battles at the national level as the basis for his departure.
