JUST IN: Ex-Ekiti Deputy Gov dumps PDP, set to join ADC
By Boye Oyeyemi –
Former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Professor Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, has officially parted ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Olusola-Eleka, who contested the 2018 governorship election on the PDP platform, announced his resignation in a letter dated July 24, 2025.
In his resignation letter, Olusola-Eleka expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities it had offered him but cited the party’s deviation from its core values as the reason for his departure.
“I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from today. I deeply appreciate the support and opportunities given to me over the years by the party, including the chance to serve as Deputy Governor and to fly the PDP flag in the 2018 governorship race.”
He continued, “However, after thorough consultations and personal reflection, I have come to realize that the party no longer represents the ideals of credible leadership and vibrant opposition that once drew me to it. It is on this basis that I can no longer continue as a member of the PDP.”
He concluded by wishing the party well in its future endeavours.
Sources close to the development said Olusola-Eleka is expected to be a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Friday, during a formal event planned by the party in Ekiti State.
