JUST IN: Ex-minister cautions Ondo Govt over inquest into Akeredolu’s death

By Boye Oyeyemi –
Former Minister of State for Transport, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, has cautioned the Ondo State Government against being used by certain individuals to ignite tension over the coroner’s inquest into the death of former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Adegoroye issued the warning in a statement on Tuesday titled “All Things Are Lawful But Not All Things Are Expedient.”
He expressed concern over reports that the state government is considering a coroner’s inquest into the death of Akeredolu following a petition submitted by a group.
While acknowledging that the government has a duty to respond to petitions brought before it, he urged the Attorney General of the state to carefully examine the motives of those behind the petition.
He suggested that the move may be a ploy to paint the Aiyedatiwa-led administration as being on a witch hunt, which could damage its reputation.
The former minister advised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to be cautious and avoid falling into what he described as a possible trap meant to distract his administration.
He added that the governor should focus on building a lasting legacy as his current tenure runs until 2029.
Adegoroye also called on party elders and well-meaning stakeholders in the state to intervene in what he described as a developing crisis that could affect both the innocent and the guilty.
