JUST IN: FUTA reappoints Oluyamo as Deputy Vice Chancellor

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has reappointed Professor Sunday Samuel Oluyamo of the Department of Physics as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development) for another two-year term.

His reappointment followed his election at the 326th Statutory Meeting of the university’s Senate and was subsequently ratified by the Governing Council.

A letter signed by the Registrar, Mr. Olusegun Adeleye, officially conveyed the approval.

It read: “Following your election at the 326th Statutory Meeting of Senate, the Governing Council has confirmed your appointment as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development) of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, for a period of two years, effective from May 6, 2025.”

In his capacity as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development), Prof. Oluyamo will be responsible for spearheading staff development initiatives, mobilising infrastructural support for academic programmes, managing collaborations both locally and internationally, and coordinating fundraising efforts.

He will also interface with external agencies, NGOs, and the university’s alumni network.

In addition, Oluyamo is expected to supervise the Physical Planning Unit and lead strategic projects in need-driven research and institutional development.
