JUST IN: Lagos-bound Air Peace flight makes emergency stop on Abuja runway

A Lagos-bound Air Peace flight, departing from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja encountered an unexpected emergency stop on the runway on Thursday morning.

According to reports, the jet suddenly stopped just before takeoff, causing shock and panic among the passengers onboard.

The incident reportedly happened around 6:30 am.

According to information posted on his Facebook page, Nigerian human rights attorney Inibehe Effiong, said the captain blamed the incident on a bird strike.

Passengers were asked to disembark from the aircraft and put on another plane, according to the lawyer.

The Head of Corporate Communications, Air Peace Limited, Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, told Sahara reporters that the flight experienced a bird strike before take-off, prompting a ramp return as a safety measure.

“We have deployed a replacement aircraft for the affected flight in order to minimise disruptions, thus ensuring that passengers continue their journeys promptly.

“We appeal for the understanding of our valued passengers impacted by this development, as well as those on other flights that may experience delays.

“At Air Peace, we are committed to providing safe, comfortable, and reliable air travel for all our passengers,” Ndiulo was quoted to have said.
